A PLACE FOR YOU TO BELONG

Membership at CHCC means being a vital and active part of our family

We are called to belong, not just believe. “In Christ, we who are many form one body and each member belongs to all the others.” (Rom. 12:5)
We’re not on our own anymore. The Bible says we are put together, joined together, built together, members together, heirs together, fitted together, held together, and will be caught up together.

A Christian without a “home” is like an organ without a body, a sheep without a flock, or a child without a family. It’s an unnatural state (Eph.2:19LB).
Why we need a church family: *It identifies us as believers. (John 13:35NLT) *It keeps us from self- centered isolation. (I Cor. 12:25-26) *It helps us grow. (Eph.4:16NLT) *It will help to guard us from drifting back to old ways. (Heb.3:13; 13:17NLT) *The Body of Christ needs your contribution. (I Cor.12:7NLT)

When a child is born, he or she automatically becomes a part of the universal family of human beings. But to receive the best nurture and care, and to grow up healthy and strong, that child also benefits from belonging to a specific family.
When we’re born again, we automatically become a part of God’s universal family, but we, like the child, further benefit from belonging to a specific church family.
Joining a local church is the natural next step once we’ve become children of God. We become Christians by committing to Christ, but we become church members by committing to a specific group of believers. The first decision brings salvation; the second brings fellowship. Paul said of the Macedonians, “They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and prayer.” (Acts 2:42 MSG)
Membership means being a vital, active part of the living Body of Christ. We are a Body, not a building; an organism, not an organization. If a part of our human bodies is severed, it will shrivel and die. It cannot exist on its own, and neither can we, apart from a local body of believers.
