Worship
Worship is “more than just a song we sing, and it’s more than just an offering; it’s our very lives to You we bring, and nothing less than all will do, Lord it’s all about You!”
This is the worship mission statement here at Christian Hill, and it also happens to be the chorus from one of the songs we worship with corporately. This particular song goes on to say, “with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my strength and with all that is within me – I will lift Your praises high!”
The fulfillment of a life of worship is fulfillment of the two greatest commandments that Christ gave to His people in Mark 12:29-31…
“29 The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
In our culture of worship at Christian Hill we make it very clear that the applause at the end of each song is not for the band, and although God has blessed this body with one of the best worship bands around, we applaude as a physical expression of our thanksgiving and love toward our God. It’s worship!
We try to, as much as possible, blur the line between stage and audience, participator and bystander; we are all worshipers and are all worship leaders, whether as a collective participant in the congregation or as a background singer on stage. Yet we keep the line between relevance and accommodation very clear.
The songs we sing and the instruments/arrangements we use are chosen with the intent of providing a point of contact and relatability with the visitors and seekers in our community, and to reach all age groups. Yet the message of the cross—the gospel—is never watered down or compromised for the sake of relevance. You will find a thriving worship environment at Christian Hill, with cutting-edge music (Hillsong United, Delirious, Tomlin, Hymns, Originals) and skillful musicianship. We love worshipers! It’s the point of our existence! Come worship with us!
